Red Velvet Parfait

These Red Velvet Parfaits are pieces of red velvet cake layered with yummy homemade cream cheese icing topped with chopped walnuts.

For the Cake

  • 1 Box Duncan Hines red velvet cake mix
  • 3 Large Eggs
  • 1/3 Cup Canola oil

For the Icing

  • 8 Ounces Softened cream cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Vanilla extract
  • 2-4 Tablespoons Heavy cream, as needed (add more if needed to reach desired consistency of icing)
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped walnuts


For the cake

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. 
  • Mix all cake ingredients in a bowl.
  • Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
  • Cut the cakes in half then into cubes. Reserve the rest for later.

For the cream cheese icing

  • In a stand mixing bowl, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter and vanilla extract and heavy cream. Mix until well combined and is desired consistency.
  • Place about 1/2 cup of cake cubes in 4-8 glasses or jars. Pipe the cheesecake icing on top and continue to layer.
  • Top each parfait with chopped walnuts.
  • For the rest of the cake top with cream cheese icing and walnuts. Enjoy!
